One of the French representatives at the WESG 2017 World Finals, Limitless, will be using Valentin "mistou" Balbastro as a stand-in due to their player being hospitalized shortly before the event in China.
Limitless was one of the surprised of the WESG EU&CIS Regional Finals, as they defeated fnatic, Fragsters and RESISTANCE to finish second in group D, qualifying for the playoffs and the World Finals. The French team will be forced to use a stand-in at the $1.5m finals, though, as Léonard "Smyli" Michelino has been hospitalized just a couple of days before they travel to Haikou, Hainan, China.
To fill in the gap, Limitless have reached out to Valentin "mistou" Balbastro, who plied his trade under Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans in LDLC and represented France at TWC 2016.
Limitless are currently ranked #77 in the world and will have the following squad at the event:
Léo "Kan4" Intronati
Théo "LoWkii" Téchené
Paul "Polox" Barbe
Bryan "Maka" Canda
Valentin "mistou" Balbastro (stand-in)
Unfortunately, our beloved @Smylicsgo has been hospitalized and won’t be able to attend @WESGcom... We’re sending him all the love and wish that he quickly recovers. @mistoucsgo is coming in clutch and will be our stand-in. We’re gonna fight with everything we’ve got for him!
