mTw win Rekrut.ru Championship 2008

The grand final at Rekrut.ru Championship 2008 has ended with mTw defeating Virtus.pro 16:11 on inferno.

The WCG champions from mTw had starting problems in their last event of the year as they began their participation in Rekrut.ru Championship 2008. As soon as the team reached the playoffs, the only hard job was Virtus.pro in the first round of the upperbracket. With a close win, mTw set off towards another title. Nobody seemed to be able to touch the Danes, as they wandered their way to the final.

The Russian and Ukrainian teams have been proving that they can do well on home soil and it was Russian pride from Virtus.pro who should have the last shoot against mTw. The Danes had the advantage of coming from the upperbracket, as they only needed one map victory to win overall. The map should be inferno with the first half being very even, as Virtus.pro gained up on a small mTw lead. The Russians secured an 8:7 terrorist side, helped by great play from their captain LeX.

With mTw as the attacking force, they got the bomb planted on the B bombsite, but LeX cleaned up and eliminating all mTw members. He did however not have any defuse-kit and failed to find one nearby, secured mTw the pistol round. After a few eco’s by Virtus.pro the weapon round could begin. The Danes had a tad of luck to win those clutch rounds, forcing the Russians to buy every single round, even just deagles. This lead to a mTw victory 16:11 against Virtus.pro on inferno.

This ends Rekrut.ru Championship 2008, as mTw collect yet another title to the collection. Due to the earlier announced prize money reduction, teams will be receiving following:

A disappointing show from Alternate and GamePlay placing 7-8th, while Ukrainian teams really impressed at this event,  securing thee of the total eight finishing spots. Rekrut.ru Championship 2008 also ends the 2008 international event series. Remaining of 2008 are only online matches in leagues such as ESL Pro Series Scandinavia.
